Enjoy an afternoon of Dixieland jazz at our next Concert & Dance session at the Sunnyvale Elks Lodge at 375 N. Pastoria Av. (directions). You can swing to the sounds of our featured band on the large dance floor, socialize at the many tables, or just listen to the music. To see future session bands, check out our schedule.

Last session, May 10:

The guest band was the Rent Party Revelers. This is when all the best South Bay Jammers get together to make some good traditional jazz for the South Bay members. All the musicians' performances are donated to the SBTJS as a fund raiser. This sometimes results in special arraignments – like a three trombone version of the “South Rampart Parade”. This session was recorded and maybe some day there will be a CD of the performance to buy.

The talent vying for a spot on the jammers list is outstanding. Our jammers are better than a lot of bands.

Next session , June 28:

The guest band will be Chris Bradley's Traditional Jazz Band. This group plays at the Sunol Jazz Café on the Second and Fourth Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9:30. In case you have forgotten how Traditional Jazz is supposed to sound, check this group out.

It is well worth the drive over to Sunol and the $5 entrance fee to hear them. They should put on a real display of Traditional Jazz for us.

SBTJS Couple dancing to traditional jazz band The South Bay Traditional Jazz Society (SBTJS) is dedicated to the performance, promotion and preservation of vintage jazz. An afternoon of live music is presented monthly on the 4th Sunday at the Elk's Lodge on The El Camino Real in Palo Alto California. This performance gig and dance starts at 1PM and presents 5 sets of music. The event presents nationally-known jazz bands, mixed with jamsets which feature club members who are accomplished musicians in the traditional jazz idiom. Food and drinks are available.

animated trad jazz sax The Society is a non-profit organization based in Silicon Valley, part of the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area in California. Besides the monthly jazz showcase, the club provides educational programs to help perpetuate this great music and educate young and older alike in the roots of American music from New Orleans. Related musical genres and styles of music included under the umbrella of traditional jazz, aka Dixieland music, include ragtime, blues and Spirituals.
